The group of churches that make up Churches Together in St Ives welcomes you to our town and our website.
We have reached an exciting point in the life of St. Ives Churches Together as the organisation will have been running for 50 years, certainly an achievement worthy of celebration and jubilation – a word we get from the Hebrew for the sounding of ram’s horns and trumpets used to usher in the Year of Jubilee. ‘Count off seven Sabbath years—seven times seven years—so that the seven Sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; (Lev 25 v 8-10a) This theme will be the basis for our carnival float which will feature the Church in the Market Place gazebo.
Church in the Market Place (CITMP)
Every second Monday of the month teams of 3-4 volunteers from across the churches work in shifts from 9am-3pm gathered under a gazebo in the centre of the market. We are there to signpost to services, chat, pray and be a Christian presence in the market.
Past and Future activities: Short services in Broadleas, Bridge Chapel outreach, Shared skills exchange, Littlehey prison event, Carnival float, Christmas pageant. Check out the “Activities” tab which has pictures of some of the things we run and are involved in. We now also have a facebook page. Enjoy!
To be successful with all our plans we will need lots of volunteers. Please consider if you can be one of them.
Please get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact any of our member churches – see their individual page tabs to find out more.
